Troubleshooting
Permissions, activation and features that won't behave.
Supermac won't open, or macOS blocks it
- Check that your Mac runs macOS 14 Sonoma or later (Apple menu → About This Mac).
- If macOS says it can't open Supermac, open System Settings → Privacy & Security. If Supermac is listed under Security, click Open Anyway.
- Download Supermac again from your purchase email or the customer portal, rather than using a copy from somewhere else.
My license won't activate
- Copy the license key from your purchase email and paste it in full, without extra spaces.
- Make sure your Mac is online. Activation is checked with releaseflow.net.
- Already using Supermac on 3 Macs? Deactivate one in the customer portal to free up a slot.
- Can't find the email? Log in to the customer portal.
Screen recording permission (Screenshots)
- Capturing the screen needs Screen Recording access. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and turn Supermac on.
- If it is already on but captures come out empty or black, turn it off and on again, then quit and reopen Supermac.
- macOS only asks once — if you clicked Don't Allow, you can enable it any time from the same place.
Accessibility permission (window snapping)
- Window snapping and other window control need accessibility access. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and turn Supermac on.
- If snapping worked before and stopped, turn the permission off and on again, then quit and reopen Supermac.
A feature isn't working
- Get the latest version from the customer portal.
- Check the permissions above — most broken features are a permission that was never granted.
- AI chat needs a provider connected with your own API key, or a local model through Ollama or LM Studio.
- On-device translation needs macOS 26 or later. On earlier versions, translate with your AI model instead.
